In my work I am interested in the interaction between cultural and historical
symbols, as well as historical clichés in the cultural context
of a contemporary society. Recently I was living and working in Italy
and my current art reflects a great deal of influence and perception
derived from the cultural artifacts I found there. The remnants of powerful
empires, not unlike my own multi-cultural background, has become a strong
force in my art making. This attraction to fragments has led me to explore
the notion of representation and reflection of the past through the
present.
